Hello Rogue Militia, Palathus speaking! I will be making it a point to leave postings no less than once a month, if not once every few weeks on here. I will be splitting these updates between Non-Member, Member and Officer information. I have come up with a similar format to that which Blizzard uses in it's Patch Notes. This seems to be the easiest way to convey all required information to a variety of members without forcing everyone to read things that do not pertain to them. Update 01/27/09 {to be added to by 1/30}
Attention Non-Members: - Interested in joining the Rogue Militia? We're a Cooperative, Cross Faction Guild on the Steamwheedle Cartel Realm who's Primary Goal is Leveling through teamwork. Our Secondary Goal is that of a Light RP (Role Playing) guild. We host members of all classes, races, and levels; some members being under level 10 - level 80 Vetrans.
- What is "Cross Faction"?: Being "Cross Faction" indicates that we have both Horde and Alliance members. Obviously it's impossible to send guild invites to Horde players from an Alliance guild and vise versa. This idea comes from a combination of RP and the fact that there are actually TWO Rogue Militia's on Steamwheedle Cartel: Alliance - "Rogue Militia", Horde - "RogueMilitia". Having these guilds with almost the same name allows up the ability
- RP Events: Our Guild Chat is OOC (Out Of Character) & our RP events are scheduled on the Guild Calendar. We use Raid groups for RP events to keep track of each other and to speak to one another over great distances, when we would usually use the /say command to talk in character. Palathus is the Officer in charge of RP events, at present he is the one who compiles storylines (yes, storylines, some other guilds just improve people at a bar), schedules and hosts the events. Attendance to these events is completely optional, but appreciated. Members are encouraged to schedule and run their own Guild RP events in supplement to those run by Palathus.
- Raiding: Aunuce is the Officer in charge of Raids and Dungeon Runs. She is constantly updating the Guild Calander (gCalander) with new runs for members of all levels. Members are encouraged to run scheduled and unscheduled runs on their own, without Aunuce as much as with. Feel free to post any dungeons you would like to do as Announcements on the gCalander upon joining.
- Guild Vault: What we lovingly refer to as the gBank is our Guild Vault. Currently we have 4 tabs of rotating items. Members are always activly depositing items, usually faster than we can withdraw them. When this happens: Vatel, being the Officer in charge of the Guild Bank and Guild Store (in RP), goes in to clean the gBank of all unnecessary items to make room for future deposits. The Money in the gBank is constantly increasing, and is not accessible to anyone in the guild inclusing officers and even the Guild Master. The gBank gold is used entirely for purchasing new gBank tabs for member use.
Attention Members: - As some of you may be aware, a member was recently let go of our guild. Without releasing his name, I will explain the situation which resulted in this boot:
There are always two sides to every story, the thing we know for certain is that a member was online, speaking in gChat and expressed exceptionally ignorant, racist remarks in the presence of 20+ members of mixed agegroups. This will NOT be tollerated. Using Hateful, Racist remarks is grounds for an immediate boot from the guild, as is using offensive sexual slang. If you find yourself in a situation where you have been booted from the guild for this reason, the correct course of action is to contact an Officer in whisper and discuss the situation. We are all human, and misunderstandings do happen. It's important that all sides of the story are heard and understood.
- When you speak in gChat, remember Palathus' simple rule: "Don't use any words, or say anything that you wouldn't normally say around your Grandparents." In most cases, this rule strikes out the majority of offensive material and poor language. We censor our language in gChat because, though the majority of our members are adults, we do have members of mixed ages. We feel that children should not be subjected to such pigheaded language, and many older players are offended by such language.
Attention Officers: - Actions of Officers: I, Palathus, will stand behind the actions (not necessarily gChat) of any officer in how they handle problems that may arrise in guild while I am online or off. If you are doing your job and a member says something to the point of, "If Palathus were here, he wouldn't do this" be assured that I am behind you in your decisions 100%, not matter how I think I may have reacted in the situation. This is a guild built upon mutual respect, and what is respect without trust in ones peers.
- Guild Recruiting: Feel free to work on Guild Recruiting to build our numbers into an even higher epic number than we already are. I will not give you a predetermined macro for recruiting, instead: use your wit, your talent, your personality. Recruit members who you feel would be an asset to the guild. We do no pride ourselves on stealing members from other guilds, so focus your search on unguilded players, however if an already guilded player inquires into our guild, they will be accepted with open arms. Special concessions may be made for higher level players in the way of rank ("Sergent" for example) either by that payers request or through discussion in the Officer Meetings.
- Promotions: Officers have the right to Promote and Demote as they see fit. If you do not know how to use these fuctions, it's easy. Press "O" to bring up your social window and select the "Guild" tab. You can then click on any member's name and a detail window will appear to the right of social: In this window there will be: -A Down Arrow (Demote 1 Level), -An Up Arrow (Promote 1 level), -Public Notes (All Members have access to read and edit this information, so do not put anything in there that would hurt or embarass a member, as well, do not put information that if important because it could get deleted easily), -Officer Notes (In this Area, please put any comments, good or bad, that need to be discussed in our Officer Meetings. Examples would be: Potential Promotions, gBank Activity, Suspicious or harmful gameplay, harassment, etc).
- Guild Rules: Before a "Recent Recruit" is promoted to Full "Member" status, is is IMPERITIVE that they read and agree to the guild rules. They can view these rules by a series a macros that I have written. Below are the macros. Please copy (CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) them into your /macro function so to allow members the ability to be promoted even if I am not online:
Macro #1: /g Hey Recent Recruits, who wants a Promotion to FULL Member Status? {wait for their responce. If no one responds that more than likely means that their AFK and posting the rest of the macros would only waste time and engergy}
Macro #2:
/g All you have to do to be promoted to FULL Member Status is read the following rules and agree to them in gChat. /g Get Ready! {Wait a could seconds for the members to read that last macro before posting the next 5 Macros in sequence without a pause. Scrolling the rules this quickly presents the illusion of 1 giant macro, but unfortunately WOW limits the characters in macros so the rules must be split up.}
Macro #3: /g Guild Rules: /g 1 - Treat everyone with kindness and respect; that includes non Guild Members as well. This includes watching your language. /g 2 - The Money in the gBank is for buying new Bank Tabs. Officers have access. Please Contribute. Macro #4: /g 3 - When withdrawling from the gBank: All items taken MUST be taken for use with that alt only! Withdrawls for friends, non guildies, or even other alts is not permitted. Please deposit an equal share that you withdrawl. DEing gbank is not accetable Macro #5: /g 4 - Attendance on scheduled RP Events and Dungeon Runs is optional, but appreciated. /g 5 - The website URL is: http://MiLiTiA.rogueradio.us, please make it a note to visit at least a couple times to see what tools are at your disposal. Macro #6: /g 6 - Promotions are the decisions of the Officers as a group. All conduct, good and bad, will affect your eligability. /g 7 - The Guild Teamspeak Server is located at: HOST: ts20.bargainvoice.com:5060 Please take the time to introduce yourself. ^_^ Macro #7: /g 8 - gInvites are now by Officer Controlled. If you find someone who wants an invite or one for an Alt, please inform an Officer. /g 9 - Feel free to ask for help in gChat, but excessive begging or spamming may result in being demoted or kicked.
Website Updates & Future Website Plans: - Palathus is currently working on creating a new template for the guild website. The current template, with Onyxia, was one that was found for free when the guild was first created, shortly after Burning Crusade was released. In efforts to update our website to a more "Wrath of the Lich King" feel, and to allow a more efficient use of space, this is being worked on as we speek and should be installed sometime in February.
